Hello again!

For those who don’t know me my name is Alex Hogan. I once long ago started up Axxium’s 1.6 team back in the summer of 2003 in CAL season 13 and started up a Source team for Axxium in 2005 Season 5 of CAL. And I’m at it again with some old faces and some new and this time I’m going to make sure to see this team through. The new Source team I have created consists of some real best friends of mine such as Derrick “KonG” Gennrich, Dayvid “Jarhouse” Jarhaus, Jesse “Cypher” Thompson, Kasey “Kas3y” Crawford and last but not least Nick “nkp” Plattner. Derrick, Dayvid and Jesse are good friends of mine who I hang out with personally and we all just decided to get together again and start playing serious. Which will be great for Axxium because teams that are based off friendships with people who know each other will last a very long time. Nick is also a old friend of mine who I met online making the 1.6 team a long long long time ago and he said he wanted to make a switch over to source and that brought me more motivation to make this team because he is a solid player who has grown so much in counter strike I can’t wait to see what he has to bring to Source so watch out for this guy. He brought his friend Kasey with him who I played with a few times in 1.6 and in source to get a feel for who he was and I automatically was astonished on this guy’s play style and how good of a guy he was and asked if he would make the switch over with Nick and he accepted. This Source team is going bring Axxium into a new era of gaming. I plan on taking this team across to as many lans as possible to prepare ourselves for the next franchises that the CGS will announce(hopefully) and help Axxium become a CGS franchise. For those who have followed me since the 1.6 team know my potential when I have a solid team anything can happen so cross your fingers for us because were going to blow you away!

After a decent performance in cal-im last season with a 10-4 record the axxium counterstrike source team will be competing in cal-main.  They started out the season with a tough loss to wookie armor in OT and then bounced back winning five matches in a row.  The axxium css team now sits 5-1 in cal-main and awaits next weeks schedule for de_dust2.  They are also currently preparing for the 3rd week of the xlr8gaming.net tournament where they stand in 4th place.  The standings are as follows:

I’m long overdue for some blog love. I’m also long overdue for an announcement to the community regarding Axxium’s status and big news.

I’ve had a couple people contact me with the scariest question I ever hear - “Is Axxium dead?”. The answer is “Absolutely not!”

Thinking more about the focuses of Axxium,recently ,and where our words are being heard the loudest- I completely understand the concerns. Hell, I’m sure many of the people in the forums don’t even know who I am! That’s not cool at all!

Axxium will never be dead. My primary job as President should be bringing the community together and focus on growth and progression. I’ve really been failing in this area. I forget, at times, that Axxium may appear to be dieing to certain parts of the community because I work on Axxium items and talk with Axxium members on a daily basis. A lot of my management has been applied in areas that I simply should not be managing - such as competitive team management and pesky problem solving. Axxium has lost some very influential executive members in the past few months and left some serious gaps that needed to be mended.

This can be fixed very simply. I just need to recruit a game manager. The game manager’s job is to simply make sure the logistics of the competitive core are attended to. They are the official liaison between each competitive division and myself. This position is very important and requires a lot of friendly communication with members. Simply having an official executive member around for the divisions is very important to making them feel a part of the organization.

I will be a seeking a current Axxium member to hold this position - but if nobody is available, I will seek a member from the competitive gaming community (knowledge of competitive gaming is a must).

On to Some Axxium Updates…

Just because I haven’t announced updates - doesn’t mean I’m not busy as hell with Axxium stuff. As everyone knows, there’s been a ton of great games released in the past 6 months. Sounds great, right? Well sure! Unfortunately, so many great new games coming out tears apart teams. Players get excited for new games and break off - dismembering teams and leaving the organization with gaps to fill. However, great new games open up great new opportunities and communities to influence with our messages.

Competitive Core

Counter-strike Source

Since recruiting the new CS:S team, the players have worked extremely hard online and on LANs to represent all that Axxium is. They’ve been extremely successful as a competitive entity in e-sports most competitive game. Currently a very respectable team in CAL and CEVO, Axxium CS:S strives to make their presence felt in online tournaments and gaming communities by representing Axxium on community forums, servers, and LANs. Keep an eye out for this team as they’re uber talented, extremely friendly, and a great addition to our organization.

Call of Duty 4

Axxium is proud to announce the addition of a Call of Duty 4 division. This new game is just starting to pick up and the Axxium divisions is shaping up to be extremely competitive. Willeh, from past Axxium Day of Defeat, returns with the team to show the new guys what Axxium is all about; community and purpose. Good luck, fellas!

Team Fortress 2

Gosh! How frustrating! I’ve wanted to get a division together for TF2 for so long! It’s such a great game with a strong community - that it’s hard not to do. We’ve been very close to getting a community division of TF2 many times. I’d still like to have a team - so please let me know if you’re interested. I just need a leader to step up and start recruiting! <3

Halo 3

Axxium is also recruiting for a competitive Halo 3 division. We’ve been talking to past Axxium divisions for interest - but are about ready to just start recruiting from the community. Let us know if you’re awesome at Halo 3!

Expanding the Axxium Community

XBOX Live

Axxium is excited to be making its influence on XBOX live. If you haven’t seen XBOX’s new community features - check ‘em out. They need some more features, but it’s ready to start networking with other Axxium members! Everyone who has XBOX Live should be adding “axxiumgaming” to their friends. This is acting as the liaison account to meet other axxium members. Anybody who is friends with “axxiumgaming” considers themselves an Axxium members or are a part of the Axxium community (same as a member in our book .

Just like a trillion other people out there, Axxium is on Myspace.com. Axxium will be opening up a new online store at http://spreadshirt.com - where you can buy high-quality Axxium gear as often as you’d like. This will help reduce the confusion, time, and frustration related to traditional printing processes. We’ll post the url on the site soon.

Public Servers / Sponsorships

As everyone knows - Axxium loves to have pub servers… unfortunately, public servers are not cheap! I will be attempting to seek server sponsorships to obtain public servers for great games like COD4, TF2, CSS, and many more. This is absolutely up to the community! You choose the best games and we’ll make it happen.

Steam Community

Axxium is also on the steam community. Our numbers for our group are pathetic! We should have about 20x the members than we currently do. Search the community for Axxium and request to be a part of the group. Then invite your friends! This is a great way to play with other Axxium members and have a great time! I think that’s about it for now, everyone! …Ok, well maybe not… it’s not for us to predict (we’re most likely going to say ‘no’… unless, of course, you’re down with 400+ chunky/scrawny, stinky/sweaty, noobie/nerds). Axxium probably won’t be competing but you should keep an eye out for recruiters rummaging around looking for kids that enjoy a good time (and who like candy).
